Florida ALPR law
§ 316.0777 § 316.0778
Allows law enforcement agencies to request the installation of ALPR for the purpose of collecting criminal intelligence or investigative information. Systems cannot be used to issue traffic citations. Creates public records of exemption for certain images and data, including personal identifying information, obtained by ALPR systems. Provides that images and data containing personal information obtained from ALPR systems are confidential. Allows disclosure to criminal justice agencies and to individuals to whom the license plate is registered in certain circumstances. Requires the state to establish a retention schedule for records containing images and data generated using ALPRs. An ALPR must be removed within 30 days if the Department of Transportation notifies the requesting law enforcement agency that such a removal must occur.
