When we get something wrong or change how we count, it goes here, dated. Found an error? Email [email protected]. For a wrong camera, use "Report a fix" in any camera popup.

  1. 2026-10-12 · CAMERA COUNTS & CITY FILES

Camera counts now come from a daily national snapshot of OpenStreetMap (instead of per-metro tiles), and city pages now cover the 520 largest US cities plus tracked communities. City counts use a radius sized to each city's land area, shown on each page, so some numbers differ from the earlier fixed 5-mile counts.

  2. 2026-10-12 · CANCELLATIONS TRACKER: CAMBRIDGE, MA

Our Cambridge entry carried a note about the city council ending ShotSpotter (gunshot detection), which is not a Flock/ALPR decision, dated May 2026. The source tracker's own record page for Cambridge describes a Flock contract cancellation in December 2025 after Flock installed cameras without the city's knowledge during a suspension. We updated the note and date to match that record page.

  3. 2026-10-12 · CAMERA STATUS

Cameras tagged on OpenStreetMap as disused or removed are now shown as "Reported removed" and excluded from counts. Cameras with a survey/check date plus a photo, survey source, or operator tag are labeled "Corroborated"; everything else is "Community reported."

  4. 2026-10-12 · HOME PAGE TICKER

The scrolling ticker's page source now lists each win once; the second copy used for the seamless loop is added only in the browser and hidden from screen readers.

  5. 2026-10-11 · CANCELLATIONS TRACKER

De-duplicated the cancellations data. The source tracker listed 339 entries; some communities appeared more than once, so we now count 328 distinct communities and keep the most recent entry for each.

  6. 2026-10-11 · HOME PAGE NEWS

Updated the Newsweek card to the article's current headline ("Map Shows 149 Cities Pushing Back Against Flock Cameras", Aug 28, 2026). Our earlier card used the article's original headline ("Map Shows Cities, Counties Canceling Flock Cameras Amid Backlash"). The "at least 56 in 2026" figure is the article's, citing DeFlock's tally.

  7. 2026-10-11 · SHARE LINKS

Share links used to contain whatever the visitor typed (which could be a full address). They now contain only a town name and a point rounded to about 1 km.

  8. 2026-10-11 · CAMERA LABELS

Added "Reported, not verified" labels to lookup, map, drive results and share cards, and an explanation that zero reported cameras does not mean zero cameras.
