Scottsdale votes to defund Flock after mid-2027 and draft new guardrails
At its Oct. 6 meeting, Scottsdale City Council unanimously directed staff to end Flock funding in the 2027–28 budget (starting July 1, 2027) and to draft an ordinance with guardrails and an independent audit for Dec. 1 consideration. The city's roughly 85 cameras stay on through at least June 30, 2027 under the current appropriation. Police said Flock contributed to 200+ felony arrests; council members said the program as it stands is headed for scrap with reforms first.
