Kentucky's capital, Frankfort, votes 5-0 not to renew its Flock contract
The Frankfort Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Monday not to renew the city's contract for 19 Flock license plate readers when it expires in January 2027, reversing a Sept. 28 meeting where the same motion failed. Commissioner Leesa Unger's motion also directed staff to notify Flock right away, and the cameras will be removed after the contract ends. Commissioners said they wanted stronger state and national guardrails first; Commissioner Rob Richardson called the technology valuable and said he expects stricter rules to come up in the legislative session that starts in January.
