Pearland, Texas police say the city's Flock database was searched more than 903,000 times in one month

Pearland police released data showing the city's Flock database was searched more than 903,000 times from Aug. 10 to Sept. 10, 2026, in response to questions from city council members, ABC13 reported on Oct. 15. Out-of-state agencies ran 61% of those searches, Texas agencies 16%, and Houston-area agencies about 9%, police said. Pearland disabled Flock's nationwide search option on Sept. 15, according to ABC13; Community Impact separately reported that a Pearland police crime analyst said the city turned off nationwide sharing in September after finding about 63% of searches over the previous year came from out-of-state agencies, and that the department requires a case number for each search and audits searches monthly. Pearland, which adopted Flock in 2022 and operates about 112 cameras according to Community Impact, says Flock alerts account for 57% of stolen vehicles it has recovered since then. Neighboring Manvel voted unanimously last month to drop Flock.
