New Hampshire ALPR law
§ 261.75-b See also § 236.130 For surveillance generally.
ALPRs can only record license plates and not photograph vehicle occupants. The head of a law enforcement agency must authorize devices, administer documented training for officers, and maintain devices according to manufacturer’s recommendations. Agencies must register devices with the department of safety and certify compliance with requirements and required agency policies. Data must be updated daily through hard link or wireless upload, with manual updates during shifts when bulletins are issued or canceled. License plate records must be purged within three minutes unless an alarm results in arrest, citation, protective custody or identifies a wanted vehicle. Data cannot be shared for any other purpose other than those described under this section. Requires agencies to maintain audits of inquiries and submit annual reports on usage, matches, stops, searches and arrests. Authorizes the attorney general to audit ALPR devices and records and seek injunctions or device confiscation for any repeat violations.
