The DeFlock The USA Cancellation Tracker tracker logs local decisions against Flock cameras. When we retrieved it on 2026-10-11 its headline count was 339; after removing duplicate entries for the same community we count 328 distinct places. Newsweek (Aug 28, 2026) mapped 149 cities pushing back and reported at least 56 communities acted in 2026 per DeFlock's tally.

Outcome labels are our plain-English grouping of the tracker's categories. "Canceled" doesn't always mean camera-free: Newsweek notes some cities switched to other ALPR vendors.

Why communities are acting
Reported reasons vary. NPR reported cancellations over immigration-surveillance concerns. Newsweek reported that Pflugerville, TX voted to terminate after revelations that hundreds of outside organizations had accessed its cameras' data, and that Tempe, AZ deactivated its system while saying it found no evidence its own system had been misused (Newsweek).
