Flock CEO says gunshot mics detect "just gunshots"; website and spokesperson describe more
At TechCrunch Disrupt, CEO Garrett Langley said Flock's Gunshot Detection listens for "just gunshots" after the company pulled a short-lived prototype that looked for sounds of human distress. TechCrunch reported that Flock's website still markets alerts for street takeovers, severe crashes, fireworks, and sideshows. Flock spokesperson Paris Lewbel told TechCrunch Langley's remarks were meant to stress the product is not designed to monitor conversations or speech and does not currently detect human screaming or distress, while confirming it can detect fireworks, sideshows, and potential car crashes in addition to gunfire.
