Savannah police fired an officer who gave her Flock login to her husband, an ICE agent; ICE confirms it is investigating
The Savannah Police Department confirmed it fired an officer for giving her Flock camera system username and password to her husband, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, and ICE confirmed it is investigating because of its agent's involvement, WTOC reported on Oct. 15, 2026. Department records reviewed by WJCL 22 News show an internal audit flagged unusually high search volume on the officer's account between January and July 2026: 983 search entries involving 97 identifiable plates from Georgia, New Jersey, Maryland, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina, with 48 South Carolina plates accounting for 788 entries. The records say the husband did not have his own Flock access through the Department of Homeland Security, told investigators he used the account for about four months to locate ICE targets with active arrest warrants, and denied any personal use; department documents noted most registered owners identified in the audit were Hispanic. In the records, a Savannah police major wrote that SPD does not participate in federal immigration enforcement and that the arrangement raised concerns department resources were used without authorization for it. The investigation did not find a violation of Georgia's license plate reader law; the firing was for violating an SPD policy against letting unauthorized people use department software. The department said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which investigated, chose not to bring criminal charges against the officer, and that SPD shares credentials with some agencies but ICE is not one of them. A city spokesperson said an outside agency's investigative purpose does not by itself authorize access to SPD's system. The termination took effect Sept. 26, and the officer withdrew a Civil Service Board appeal, according to city records cited by WJCL.
