Elgin, Texas council votes unanimously to end its Flock contract; cameras locked out
The Elgin, Texas City Council voted unanimously on Oct. 13, 2026 to terminate the city's Flock Safety contract and directed staff to work with the city attorney on any remaining financial obligations, the Elgin Courier reported Oct. 20. The acting city manager said everything has been locked out on the system, though the cameras are still physically in place. Elgin had 25 cameras plus a mobile trailer with four more; 13 cameras were paid from the general fund at $39,000 a year under an agreement renewed in March that ran to 2028, and the rest were grant-funded. The vote followed a monthlong pause the police chief started in September (Elgin Courier).
