Poughkeepsie, New York council votes 8-1 to end Flock; mayor says she will veto
The City of Poughkeepsie Common Council passed a resolution 8-1 on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, to end the city's relationship with Flock Safety and require guardrails before any future use of automatic license plate readers (Poughkeepsie Journal). The resolution says Flock misled the public about concerns that it shared data with federal law enforcement and raises concerns about how long vehicle location data is kept (Spectrum News). Mayor Yvonne Flowers said in an Oct. 21 statement that she plans to veto it (Spectrum News; Poughkeepsie Journal). Last month the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office and sheriff's office ended their relationship with Flock (Spectrum News).
